According to my husband and son, there is no better way to celebrate summer than with iced tea. Throw in a Bacon Cheeseburger, and well… you’ve got yourself a match made in heaven. Its one of the #TEArifficPairs that can’t be beaten. Make it a double and well… prepare to be amazed.
We go through a ton of iced tea in the summer, and since my son can’t stand looking in the refrigerator and seeing that all the tea is gone, I am LOVING that Lipton has cold brew iced tea (which I discovered thanks to #CollectiveBias) that is super easy to make and only takes about five minutes. When you’re dealing with an on-the-go teenager, trust me… the faster the better!
I stocked up on Lipton Fresh Brewed Tea while shopping at Walmart for some of our favorite summer drinks last week. Since iced tea was at the top of the list, we headed straight to that aisle of the store to get started before heading over to pick up supplies for bacon cheeseburgers.
Meals that come together easy and keep the kitchen cool are a top priority in our house during the summer months. Between summer sports and time spent at the pool, we’re constantly moving. When we come home, I want something that is simple to prepare and doesn’t heat up the house. So… we cook out on the grill at least a few times a week. While I try to mix it up (like with a Jalapeno Popper Burger), cheeseburgers are one of our summer favorites.
Bacon cheeseburgers are a meal you almost can’t go wrong with. We keep it super simple when preparing hamburgers. The trick is to make a gentle indention in the center of the hamburger patty so it doesn’t puff up while grilling. Season with salt and pepper, and/or use something like season all. Sprinkle seasoning over the patties pretty liberally and then grill them up.
Now, for our Bacon Cheeseburgers, I cut bacon slices in half and criss-crossed them over the burgers. They are pictured bacon side up so you can see the criss-cross effect, but you’ll want to cook them bacon-side down and flame grill the bacon to get it to crisp up. Watch the flames, and when it gets too hot, put the lid on the grill. This is a step you will want to watch closely so you don’t burn the burgers.
Bacon Double Cheeseburgers are a classic meal that pairs so good with iced tea. Thrown in some cooler corn and a ice box cake, and you’re a household hero! Celebrate summer sitting outdoors, enjoying a meal cooked on the grill, sipping on tea, and laughing with family. It doesn’t get much better than that.
- 1/4-1/3 pound ground beef per burger
- 2 slices bacon per patty (cut in half)
- Salt & pepper
- Season all
- Optional condiments (ketchup, mustard)
- Onion (optional)
- Form hamburger patties, indenting slightly in the center.
- Season patties with salt, pepper, and/or season all.
- Cook bacon side down on grill allowing flames to brown bacon while watching closely. Cover grill if necessary to reduce heat and/or flames. Flip and rearrange bacon as necessary, and cook until proper internal temperature has been reached.
