I’ve got an insane cereal treat recipe for you. Yum, yum, yum!
I love it when I make a recipe that my kids can’t get enough of. I mean, to be honest… they don’t always give me rave reviews in the kitchen. But that’s one reason why I’m trying harder to please and working at coming up with creative things they won’t be able to resist.
I first made a version of Cheerios Snack Crunch back in December on Christmas break. It was a Chex Party mix and my daughter ate it up. I love this cereal treat recipe! Well, this time I wanted to make something similar with leftover ingredients that I had on hand. Who doesn’t love using up all the little bags of leftover this and that in the pantry. I should have called these Pantry Snack Crunch… I mean, they very well could be. And if you are a couponer like I occasionally am, this is a good way to use some of that cereal stockpile you have going on. So… look in your pantry. Use what you have, and make them delicious.
1 small box Cheerios
3 cups mini marshmallows
1-2 cups M&Ms
1 cup peanuts (I used honey roasted, because that is what I had)
12 oz white chocolate chips, melted
Super simple… pour the white chocolate chips into a microwave safe glass bowl and zap for 30 seconds at a time, pausing to stir thoroughly in between zaps. Two minutes total should do it, just make sure you really get in there and stir good between each 30 seconds in the microwave so you don’t burn your chocolate. And don’t let any water get in there or it will be ruined!
In a big bowl pour cereal, marshmallows, M&Ms, peanuts and whatever other pantry salty or sweet leftover goodies you’d like to include. Stir the mixture until everything is pretty evenly distributed.
Pour the melted white chocolate over the cereal mixture and then stir it all together until well mixed. Dump onto waxed paper or a baking sheet and leave out to dry for 30 minutes to an hour. Store in airtight containers and let your kiddos snack away.
