Kalahari Resort Review in Wisconsin Dells
We've stayed at a variety of resorts in Wisconsin Dells and the Kalahari is by far our favorite for family fun right at the hotel. Of course, we also enjoyed the Wilderness and Spring Brook Vacation Rentals, but it all depends on just what you are looking for in your vacation escape destination.
Birthday Party at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells?
How do you entertain 8 girls for 28 hours? Bring them to the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells and let them be entertained by all the amazingly fun and active attractions, that's how! We were hosted in a Village Suite that had 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen with a small dining area, and a living room: plenty of room for 8 active girls to have some slumber-party fun!
After hitting the water park and theme park on Friday night, our suite was ideal for pizza, presents, and girl talk. In the morning, it was perfect for taking turns eating breakfast while everyone was getting ready for a second day of water park and theme park fun.
Have you been to the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells? If you haven't, let me just tell you... you're missing out on some fun!
Whether for a Party or Family Fun, the Kalahari Resort Wins Our Vote
Our family has been visiting Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells for water park fun for the last 6 years. We typically go at least once per year, and absolutely love going during the winter months when our weather in Wisconsin is cold and snowy. The kids love going down all the slides and splashing around in the wave pool, not to mention chilling out on the lazy river.
For our daughter's birthday, she begged to have a party at the Kalahari. A couple of her friends had done the same thing last year, and they had all had the BEST time ever. At 11, she's at the stage where birthday parties are just a fun time to hang out with friends. There is no need to go all out and decorate the house, plan games and make things fancy. I think I'll miss that a little bit, but it's much more relaxing to be able to book a room and theme park passes and know that's pretty much all I have to do- besides order pizza and run to the store for snacks and breakfast food. Hosting a party at the Kalahari Resort was an easy party to put together.
I invited a friend to go along with and between two cars we had enough room for all the girls. We picked up the girls after school on Friday and drove to the Kalahari Resort. It's a little under an hour from where we live, so the girls had plenty of time to get in some water park fun before a late dinner.
After checking in to the hotel and getting our suite, we all changed into swim suits and headed to the water park. The great thing about tweens is that they can entertain themselves at the water park without having to remain with an adult at all times. The girls paired themselves up into groups, because we all agreed that the buddy system is not only more fun, but a safe way to run around and have fun. My friend and I found a table and sat and chatted while the girls went down slide after slide and had SO MUCH fun! The girls checked in now and then, and had a blast.
After the water park, we went back to the room and ordered pizza. I got to hear all about the Master Blaster and the Rippling Rhino, two of the attractions in the water park that the kids all loved.
Why I Recommend a Village Suite for a Large Group
Having a Village Suite with three bathrooms is ideal when you have 10 people needing to shower or change. Changing out of swimsuits went a lot faster than it would have with only one bathroom.
The girls ate pizza and then the birthday girl opened gifts. It was all low-key and SO easy for me. Other than picking up discarded wrapping paper and paper plates from the pizza, there was absolutely no clean up from the party. That is ideal in my book!
You would think 11 year old girls would have been tired after a long day of school followed by a few hours at a water park, but no! We ended up going to Kalahari Resort's indoor theme park for a couple hours.
Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells is and Indoor Playground!
Kalahari Resort's Indoor Theme Park has over 100,000 square feet of indoor fun. The girls were able to rock climb, go on a ropes course, play laser tag (again and again, I might add); and go on Revolution 360, a ride that turned the upside down and made me queasy just watching! They also rode Go Karts, rode the Ferris Wheel, and goofed around with each other being silly and having fun. They would have kept going until closing time if I'd let them.
The next day, after waking up and eating breakfast in the suite and getting ready for the day, we were back to do it all over again. More water park fun, followed by another trip to the theme park and being turned upside down again and again... the girls wore themselves out and had a LONG day of hanging out together, making memories, and having SO much fun.
Our daughter's 11th birthday party is one she will never forget, not just because she had the chance to spend it at Kalahari Resort having fun at the water park and theme park, but because she got to spend time with her friends being silly and carefree. They all had a wonderful time, and the party was a winner, and the birthday girl was so thrilled.
