    Keylime Cove Indoor Waterpark Resort

    Keylime Cove Indoor Waterpark Resort

Last week I took a break from planning 52 Weeks of No-Repeat Meal Plans and researching more sensational Cleaning Tips.  Instead, we took a mini-vacation to Gurnee, IL shortly after school got out and the entire family had so much fun.

Keylime Cove Indoor Waterpark Resort is the place to stay when vacationing in Gurnee, IL.  It just so happens it's also the perfect waterpark playground for when you want to let the kids use up every last bit of energy they have before bedtime.

Located just down the road from Six Flags and Gurnee Mills outlet mall, Keylime Cove is close to all that's happening in Gurnee. With six dining options, a spa, waterpark, shops and an arcade, there is something for everyone.  We stayed for just one night, but this hotel is an ideal central location for a longer vacation in Gurnee.

Activities on site including an arcade and waterpark keep kids active and engaged.  Knowing the kids are having a wonderful vacation experience is something you can count on at Keylime.

One of my favorite things about Keylime Cove was the decor. I love walking into a hotel or resort and feeling like I'm walking into a little city. There aren't many resorts that accomplish this feeling from the moment you walk in, and I was very pleased with the way Keylime Cove's entrance made this happen.

Another thing I absolutely loved about our stay at Keylime Cove was how close everything was. With two wings of hotel rooms, no matter which wing you stay on, you won't be walking miles or feel like you're lost in a maze. You'll appreciate that after a long day when you're ready to get back to your room.

Our hotel room was comfortable and equipped with a refrigerator, which is something I wish came standard at other hotels.  Our room had 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa, so it was more than enough room for all of us.  The suites have a balcony, which is something to consider when booking.

Although I haven't visited Keylime Cove on the weekend, I have to recommend that if at all possible, go during the week. Our stay was relaxing, and our visits to the waterpark were fantastic. The wait to go down the bigger slides were never more than a few minutes, which our daughter really enjoyed.

The hot tub is tucked away and is located in a gated area in Toukie's Big Deluge, which is the big kids water feature area. If you can't find it, be sure to ask someone. No kids are allowed in the hot tub, so I was glad I didn't see it until we were headed out. My kids love a hot tub!

Even if you go down it only once, Hurricane's Vortex is a must ride attraction. My daughter braved this slide twice, once with her dad and once with me. I think she had more fun with her daddy because I got a little nervous when it spun us around backwards. It was a lot of fun, but I preferred the other slides. I lost count of how many times we went down them!

Keylime Cove would make a great weekend or midweek escape for those that want to chill out at the waterpark, but what makes it even better is that it is smack dab in the middle of everything.  To top that, Keylime makes it easy to get where you want to go.

Want to go shopping at Gurnee Mills or head over to Six Flags? Keylime Cove offers shuttle service to make your vacation that much easier.

We loved our mini-vacation in Gurnee, IL.  The kids had fun, hubby got to relax and unwind, and I got to go shopping with my daughter and watch my kids laugh and have fun.  That is the best feeling in the world.

Where is your favorite mini-vacation destination?

(Complimentary accommodations were provided by Keylime Cove Indoor Waterpark Resort for review purposes.  All opinions in this post are my own.)

It sounds like you and your family had loads of fun! This is a little far for me to travel, but I must keep places like this in mind for summer vacations.
