Are you looking for a great holiday destination? Caribbean vacations are among the most popular activities among travelers who want to enjoy some fun time by the beach, and St. Lucia, which is located in the region is a favorite. If you re looking to go there any time soon, the following are three must do activities:
Visit the Mount Soufriere Drive-In Volcano
This popular attraction is one of the very few drive-in volcanoes in existence across the world. Located in Soufrière, it mostly emits gas as opposed to lava, so the rotten-egg smell is generally overpowering. It is locally referred to as the Sulphur Springs because of this unique property. The road that leads to it also runs right through the crater, which consists of mostly boiling mud, sulfur, and bubbling water.
Go deep sea diving
St. Lucia, and specifically its western coast features warm, clear and calm waters ideal for those who enjoy deep sea diving. This is not to mention that its underwater world is one of a kind, as it hosts an astonishing number of sea creatures including batfish and sea horses. Snorkelers and divers can get up close, but it is recommended for people not to touch them. That said, St. Lucia is one of the best places to also view coral spawning, the process through which coral begins to develop new reef.
Relax at the Diamond Botanical Gardens and Waterfall
After a whole day of exploring and delighting in St. Lucia’s marvels, relaxing at the Diamond Botanical Gardens and Waterfall should be in your itineraries. Also known as the St. Lucia Botanical Gardens, it is the oldest botanical garden in the island and is located in a town in the southwestern region called Soufrière. So what’s there to enjoy? Mainly a beautiful, serene environment offering some peace and quite. Starting with the waterfall, the water there changes between black, green and yellowish shades at different times of the day. On the other hand, the plants at the attraction consist of mainly beautiful hibiscus and ixora blooms. While here, you can also enjoy the on-site mineral baths.
As you can see, St. Lucia has some great activities to offer. From a great scuba diving experience to checking out one of the few drive-in volcanoes, it won’t disappoint. It is truly a lovely place to visit.
