Welcome to the Carlton Hotel NYC in NoMad. NoMad, as in situated north of Madison Square Garden and the Flat Iron building. This more than century old hotel (formerly known as Hotel Seville) breathes charm and elegance. If it were a book, the Carlton Hotel's pages would be full of stories of celebrities like Frank Sinatra passing through its doors. Its character is renown. I wasn't surprised to find out that several television shows that I enjoy have filmed scenes at the Carlton. And why not? It's the perfect setting!
My daughter and I stayed in a Deluxe Queen room very similar to the one below during our stay. The size of the room was quite nice for a standard room, but if you're accustomed to staying in suites (as we have grown to be), you'll be happy to know that the Carlton Hotel has roomier accommodations available. Old world charm meets modern amenities is the Carlton Hotel in a nutshell, which is essential when traveling these days.
I'm telling you... I could fall into this bed and sleep for days. Even though we stay busy whenever we visit the city, it was so relaxing to simply enjoy the posh lifestyle that cushy bedding affords. As in- I really need to shop for luxury hotel bedding for my home because, oh my gosh... *sigh* I didn't want to get up!
As with any hotel stay, it's all about the details. If you're looking for a historic NYC hotel that knows how to get modern day details down pat, the Carlton Hotel is for you.
Not only were the accommodations comfortable and stunning, I was super impressed with the range of products in the mini bar. Sure, the fridge was all stocked up with the typical hotel mini bar drinks (and just in case you're wondering... I so didn't raid it), but there was also a fantastic assortment of snacks and a couple cell phone chargers too! I should have thought to ask the Carlton Hotel staff how many chargers they sell a month because I know how quickly my family looses them. If I hadn't bought a couple the day before (yes, I bought two because I knew one of them would inevitably get lost)... I might have gone for the convenience factor of having a charger ready and waiting for me with all the mini bar snacks. So. Tempting. Just saying.
And the other details. Like decor. As in, I want these lamps please. I am seriously coveting the curvy clear glass of these lamps. LOVE.
And the quilted headboard that is simple but oh so elegant? Just stop already! I could totally redo my bedroom like this and live in hotel comfort. Hmm... if I redecorate in a Carlton Hotel room theme, would a maid be in order? Pinch me- I'm dreaming!
But, all kidding aside, the comfort level of our room at the Carlton Hotel New York was top notch. We enjoyed a livable elegance that wasn't over the top in any way. The Carlton is affordable luxury, which is an amazing accomplishment.
As for our next visit to the Carlton Hotel, I'm thinking Carlton’s Corner Pocket Penthouse Suite might be in order. Ah, a girl can dream!
The Carlton Hotel New York is located at 88 Madison Avenue in New York City, just a short walk from Herald Square and the Garment District. Be sure to walk around and see if there are any Sample Sales in the Garment District while you're in the area. It's a fun way to get up close and personal with a part of New York that not many tourists see.
We were hosted by the Carlton Hotel during our stay, and the opinions expressed in this article are our own.
