Is Seeing the Northern Lights On Your Bucket List?

Updated: Aug 31, 2020 · Published: Nov 13, 2014 · This post may contain affiliate links.

Thanks to Hurtigruten Cruises for sponsoring today's discussion.

    What's on Your Bucket List?

    The Northern Lights.

Glorious, awe-inspiring, and just plain mystifying.

Is Seeing the Northern Lights on Your Bucket List?  It's been on mine for years.  And now that I know about Hurtigruten Cruises, I'm more excited than ever about crossing this one off my list.

Now... some might question why I'd even think about escaping the Wisconsin cold for the cold Norwegian weather, but there is something about the Arctic wilderness that is intriguing.  Since I love to travel (and crave adventure), braving the cold to experience the Northern Lights in all their glory seems inevitable.

    And the excursions....

Forget snorkeling and swimming with the dolphins.  I'll take Dog Sledding, an Eagle Safari and a Snowmobile Trip in the Polar Night any day of the week.  Seriously--think about it.  To experience a tradition like dog sledding that is so deeply rooted in history would be a phenomenal and (for most people) a once in a lifetime opportunity.  I can so easily imagine the cold wind in my face as we're whipping along the snowy trails.  And visiting with the huskies--huge bonus!

Norway offers year-round beauty.  With emerald green grass in the spring...

Northern lights that offer astounding beauty almost every night, but are more vibrant during the winter months...

Coastal towns with character and charm...

Who wouldn't want to experience a Classic Winter Voyage to this picturesque locale?  I could spend days exploring it!  Hurtigruten Cruises offers a variety of cruise options for all seasons, with experiences full of Northern Lights, excursions and the midnight sun.

I'm a bit of a dreamer.  And traveler.  Boy, do I love to travel.  It's been a while since I've traveled to Europe, but I'm excited that Europe is on our family vacation bucket list.  And Norway--well, it looks like we might have to extend our trip to include a Norway Voyage.
