One of my husband's favorite foods is breadsticks. I love to make them for him for special occasions like Valentine's Day and this year I decided to make heart shaped breadsticks.

I've made them from scratch many years and they are great but take so much time. A big time saver is using pre-made pizza dough. I got mine at Trader Joe's. The ingredients are good and it's very affordable.

You can make breadsticks just with some butter and salt but we love parmesan cheese and garlic so we add that as well. I also like to make some alfredo sauce to dip them in, yum!

Since you are using pre-made dough it only takes maybe 20 minutes to make these breadsticks. Warm, fresh breadsticks make any meal special and you don't have to tell anyone they took such a small amount of time.

How to Make Heart Shaped Breadsticks

    1. Follow the instructions on your pizza dough for oven temperature and if it needs to sit at room temperature. My dough needed to sit at room temperature for 20 minutes and the oven temperature was 350'.

    2. Lightly grease a cookie sheet.

    3. Roll dough into ½ inch thick ropes about 12+ inches long.

    4. Create a heart shape with the dough, remembering the dough will expand.

    5. Place the bread sticks onto your prepared pan.

    6. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic, salt, and Parmesan cheese.

    7. Bake for about 11-13 minutes or until golden brown.

    8. Serve warm with Alfredo sauce or pizza sauce.

These heart shaped bread sticks are sure to be the perfect side to your Valentine's Day dinner or for a date-at-home. You can even make them together for a fun activity.
