There is a pattern around here lately. Simple treats that for some reason {believe me that I have no idea what that reason is}... I never thought of before. Like graham crackers with cream cheese.
I'm sure some brilliant person somewhere has already put two and two together (or three in this case), but alas... it took me a little bit longer. Not that I haven't combined chocolate and peanut butter together before. Because I have.
Case in point my Hot n Gooey Cinnamon Toast Sandwich, Peanut Butter and Chocolate French Toast and my Chocolate Clusters.
Simple ingredients. Just three... that is all you need.
Step 1: Spread peanut butter on one pretzel and top it with another pretzel. Set aside on wax paper.
And get ready to get messy! Because, trust me... after you get past the first pretzel, it won't be looking quite as clean and tidy as this picture:
Step Two: Repeat, repeat, repeat.
Step Three: Melt chocolate chips and then dip pretzel sandwiches in the melted chocolate. Place on waxed paper and let sit for a few hours so that chocolate can harden up.
Once they've had a chance to harden on the outside, these treats are just that... a real treat to eat. They are soft and gooey on the inside, but mixed with that pretzel crunch and chocolate coating.
Watch out, because these Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Pretzels will not last long. I made 40 of them and they lasted just 2 days. Yes, my kids are big time snackers. But, this is a pretty healthy snack, and something I will make many times over just because of that.
Recipe

Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Pretzels
Ingredients
- 80 pretzels
- 1 cup of creamy peanut butter
- 2 cups chocolate chips melted
Instructions
- Put a layer of peanut butter in between two pretzels. Repeat with all of the pretzels, making a total of 40 pretzel sandwiches.
- Melt chocolate chips in microwave safe glass container by microwaving for a minute, stirring, and then repeating at 30 second intervals.
- Coat pretzel sandwiches one at a time with chocolate by dipping pretzels in the chocolate and then turning them over to coat the other side. (I use metal skewers to lift and turn the pretzels. Working with two skewers allows me to move the pretzels around and pick them up)
- Remove pretzels from the chocolate and place on waxed paper to harden up.
- Makes 40 chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels.

These will last about 2 hours in my house, but look like a delicious 2 hours indeed!!!

LOL. I'm surprised they lasted a couple days in my house. Probably only due to the other snacks we had floating around.

THANK YOU!!! I just ate a Reese cup with a pretzel and thought, "hey, I wonder if I could make peanut butter and chocolate pretzels." However, after scouring the web, every recipe adds sugar, salt, etc. So I was wondering if it could really be THIS simple!
*thumbs up*

No joke, Jessica - I would be tempted to eat these all by myself! I love pb, chocolate and pretzels! Thankfully, I have a bunch of helpers to help me eat it 🙂 Thanks so much for linking up to Freedom Fridays last week! We hope you'll join us again tonight when the party goes live! {hugs}
