Quick and Easy Taco Tator Tot Casserole

Updated: Aug 31, 2020 · Published: Jun 27, 2014 · This post may contain affiliate links.

Looking for an easy dinner that is quick to throw together and approved by the entire family?  Look no further!

This meat and potato is a fun spin on the classic taco taste.  We're loading up with plenty of tator tots, taco meat, cheese, and topping it off with sour cream and green onions.  Love, love, love this simplistic meal.

Quick and Easy Taco Tator Tot Casserole

This recipe is truly so easy to throw together.  If you can preheat an oven and brown ground beef on the stove top, you can handle this recipe.

Follow these easy steps and put dinner in the oven.

    Ingredients:

    16 ounce bag tator tots

    1 pound ground beef

    1 package taco seasoning

1-2 cups shredded cheese, (I used Triple Cheddar)

Sour cream and green onions to garnish

    Directions:

    Preheat oven to 350.

Brown ground beef and mix in taco seasoning and water according to package instructions.  Spread in 9x13 pan.  Top with layers of cheese and tator tots.  I used about 1 ¼ cups of cheese, but use up to 2 cups if you'd like it cheesier.  Bake for 25-30 minutes.  Top with sour cream and chopped green onions to serve and enjoy.

Dinner tonight doesn't have to be hard.  Make it an easy dinner prep night and have the kids help.  The more in the kitchen, the merrier, and this is one recipe that the older kids could probably handle all on their own with a little supervision.

Do I add all the meat to bottom? Then tator tots and cheese?
